I'm Ernest Robinson and this is my story in brief, my main purpose for sharing this is with hope it could help and encourage someone; and furnish you with knowledge to continue your journey and never to give up. I want to take you back to a speciêc night. It was 2 AM in a rented room in Berkshire, England, and I was sitting on the ëoor because I had woke up thinking. The only light came from my old iphone5 screen, and on that screen was a number I did not want to see: zero. That was my bank balance. Not low. Not tight. Zero. My journey is unlikely one, a black man from Africa with no money, connection, inheritance or funding.
My contract at the company I was working for on a temporary basis had stopped. I was left with no way or one to turn to, nothing at the bank. That night, I woken up, there was no noise except the city outside Berkshire village doing its quiet late-night hum. I remember staring at the message I had sent to a potential government funding platform two weeks earlier. The little blue tick said Seen. No reply followed. None ever came. In the midst of my agony, confusion came a prayer I muttered for help and purpose.
